This 30 × 48 inch original palette knife painting was created as a private commission inspired by Windansea Beach in La Jolla, San Diego, California.
Known for its dramatic rocky shoreline, turquoise Pacific water and distinctive coastal light, Windansea provided the inspiration for this custom California seascape. Rather than reproducing a single photograph, I drew from the colors, atmosphere and natural character of the location to create an original interpretation designed specifically for the collector and their space.
Painted entirely with a palette knife, the piece features layers of richly textured oil paint that give the coastline, ocean and sky dimension and movement. Blues, aquas, warm coastal neutrals and sunlit highlights capture the feeling of Southern California while maintaining the expressive texture characteristic of my work.

I accept a limited number of commissioned paintings inspired by meaningful California landscapes, including the Monterey Peninsula, Big Sur, Pebble Beach, Carmel, San Diego and other locations along the California coast.
Commissioned paintings are created as original works rather than exact reproductions of photographs. Reference images, memories, architectural context and preferred colors can all help guide the direction while allowing the finished painting to retain the expressive palette knife style of my studio.
