Waterfront Collection

Waterfront is an ongoing collection of original palette knife oil paintings inspired by California's harbors, sailboats,

working waterfronts, and coastal landscapes. Created from observations gathered throughout Monterey Bay, Moss Landing,

San Francisco Bay, and the Pacific coastline, these paintings explore the relationship between light, movement, reflection, and place.

Water has long fascinated me as a subject. It transforms everything it touches. Reflections dissolve into abstraction, colors shift with

changing weather and tide, and familiar scenes become entirely new from one moment to the next. Whether painting a sailboat gliding across the bay,

a weathered fishing vessel returning to harbor, or the quiet atmosphere of a coastal morning, I am continually drawn to the ever-changing language of water.

Each painting is created in oil using a palette knife, building layers of texture, color, and surface. Thick impasto and visible mark-making are central to the work, allowing the paintings to retain a sense of movement and physical presence. Rather than documenting a scene exactly as it appears, I aim to capture the feeling of being there—the light, the atmosphere, and the memory of a place.

The collection includes sailboats, harbor scenes, waterfront reflections, working fishing vessels, and coastal landscapes inspired by California's maritime culture. Together, these paintings celebrate the beauty of life lived alongside the water.

Based in the Monterey Bay area, I continue to draw inspiration from the harbors, marinas, working docks, and coastlines that shape this remarkable part of California.

Harbor Patina
$1,950.00

Fresh off the Easel!

30 × 40 × 1.5 inches | Oil on canvas

Harbor Patina is a flagship piece in my Working Waterfront series, inspired by the active docks and fishing vessels along the Monterey and San Francisco Bay. This painting captures a weathered trawler at rest, its worn surfaces and layered tones telling the quiet story of time, use, and exposure to the elements.

Built with expressive palette knife work, the surface carries both structure and movement, with rusted ochres, softened blues, and mineral greys layered into the hull and reflected water below. The vertical rhythm of the rigging and masts creates a strong architectural presence, balanced by the calm, shifting reflections across the harbor.

This piece moves beyond a traditional coastal scene, focusing instead on the authenticity and character of the working waterfront, where function, texture, and atmosphere take precedence over decoration.

Painted on a 1.5” deep, gallery-wrapped canvas using professional-grade materials, Harbor Patina is ready to hang and designed to hold a wall with quiet strength and presence.
