One of the reasons I’m drawn to painting with a palette knife is the way heavy texture interacts with natural light.

Throughout the day, the painting changes.

Morning light reveals one side of the texture. Evening light catches another. The surface becomes part of the architecture of the room rather than simply something hanging on the wall.

It’s a quality that’s difficult to replicate in a print or photograph.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is choosing artwork that’s too small.
