A Wonderful Day at the Kiwis in LA Art Show in Santa Monica

The Kiwis in LA Art Show & Wine Tasting was a wonderful success. Held at Santa Monica Studios 3026, the event brought together New Zealanders, Californians, artists, and art lovers for a lively day celebrating creativity and community.

I was proud to take part as a New Zealand-born artist living and working in California. I brought two paintings inspired by different sides of the California coast: one a wild, sunlit landscape, the other a working waterfront. It was a pleasure to share them with people who were curious about the places, color, and palette-knife process behind my work.

One of the paintings found a new home during the show, and my daughter Brooke also sold one of her sculptures, making it a particularly lovely day for both of us. Those sales were a wonderful highlight, alongside the conversations and connections that made the event feel so welcoming.

For me, the show brought together two parts of my life: my New Zealand roots and the California landscapes that have shaped my painting practice. I loved meeting people who shared that connection, and introducing new visitors to my original oil paintings of the California coast.

Thank you to the Kiwis in LA organizers, everyone who came by, and the collectors who supported our work. It was a joyful event, and I’m grateful we could be part of it.
