New collection...superbloom!

As an artist, I have always been fascinated by the natural world and the incredible diversity of life that surrounds us. Having grown up in New Zealand, I was exposed to a wide range of flora and fauna from an early age, and this has had a profound impact on my artistic vision.

When I moved to California, I was struck by the unique beauty of the landscape and the incredible array of wildflowers that thrived in the region. One of the most stunning displays is the superbloom, where after a long period of drought, a heavy rainfall over winter causes the hillsides and meadows to burst into a riot of color in the springtime.

The California poppy is one of the most prolific flowers in this phenomenon, and it features prominently in my latest collection of paintings, appropriately titled 'Superbloom'. However, I wanted to showcase the diversity of the region's flora, and so I included other flowers such as sunflowers, lilies and peonies.

One of the paintings in this collection, entitled 'Peony Promise', features a still life of a beautiful bouquet of pink and white peonies in a delicate glass vase. The soft, delicate petals are rendered in an impasto style, with saturated colors that create a striking effect. The painting captures the quiet beauty of a simple arrangement of flowers, bringing a sense of peace and tranquility to any room.

Another painting, 'Glimpse of Summer', captures the Los Angeles skyline peeking through a field of California Poppies. The intricate details and vivid colors of the poppes are depicted in a bold, impressionistic style that gives the painting a sense of energy and movement. This painting captures the vibrancy and energy of the natural world, making it the perfect centerpiece for any room.
