A textured Deep Impasto palette knife painting in oil by an award winning San Francisco Bay artist, featuring a colorful California spring vineyard painting. This location is looking through the Folktale vineyard in the Carmel River Valley.
This painting was inspired by one of my Plein Air (outdoor) painting trips to the gorgeous California seaside town of Carmel. On a misty and atmospheric morning I sat quietly enjoying the marine layer fog dancing around in the Carmel River Valley, and I captured the scene with my palette knives. Back in my studio in the San Francisco Bay, I scaled it up larger, and I love how the greens of Sap, Viridian, and Olive play together to create incredible texture and movement with the vines in the foreground, and the dreamy blue mountains in the background.
