Seven things to consider when commissioning an artist
#1 Research the artist.
Let's assume you have an artist in mind who's style you like. How do you know if they are reliable? You want an artist who will execute and deliver on the transaction, and be open to the commodification of their artwork.. Google their name, and then look for evidence of sales, feedback, shows and exhibitions via gallery representation, a presentable website, and a social media presence.
If this evidence of their professional behavior is in place, there is a good chance they are a reliable and successful business person.

#2 Be clear with your vision
The more communication you give the artist up front, the better. If you don't know what you want, say so!
